Sprinkler Repair in Lehi

Lehi sprinklers run on a calendar

Lehi runs a separate pressurized irrigation system for outdoor water, and it runs on a set season. It comes on April 15 and shuts off October 15. The city also suggests holding off on lawn watering until about May 1 to save water. That calendar shapes all of our sprinkler work here, from when we start you up to the last day we can blow you out. Miss either end and it costs you.

Lehi meters secondary connections now. That changes the math on a leaky valve or a head spraying the street. Before, waste was mostly a lawn problem. Now it shows up on a bill. Broken heads, bad coverage and a controller set to water every day at noon all cost real money every month the water is on. A slow leak can run the whole season before anyone spots it.

We fix what is broken, then tune the system so it fits the ground. On the clay flats around Holbrook Farms that means shorter cycles that let water soak in. On the Traverse Mountain bench, where gravel drains fast, it means matching run times to quick drainage and checking for heads that blow water down the slope. Most yards we see need a bit of both.

Lehi is two towns in one: bare new-build lots on clay down by Thanksgiving Point with an HOA clock ticking, and steep gravel benches up on Traverse Mountain that need engineered walls.

The Lehi challenges

Sprinkler trouble we fix in Lehi

Water that runs off clay

Lehi clay takes water slowly. A long single cycle puts water down faster than the soil can drink it, and the rest runs down the gutter. On a metered line, you pay for that runoff, and the lawn still looks dry because the water never got in.

Lines clipped by other trades

On newer Lehi lots, fence crews, utility installers and whoever set the hot tub often clip lines without knowing it. The leak shows up as a soggy spot or a zone that will not hold pressure, sometimes weeks later. A zone-by-zone pressure test tracks it down.

Missing the October 15 shutoff

Secondary water stops October 15. Plan the blowout after that and you lose the chance to test the system under pressure first. A system left full when the first hard freeze hits can crack pipes, valves and backflow parts. Booking early avoids all of that.

Pressure on the hillside

On Traverse Mountain lots, the low end of a zone can get far more pressure than the top. Heads at the bottom mist and drift while heads at the top barely pop up. It wastes water and leaves dry spots on the slope.

The J&H approach

How we handle sprinklers in Lehi

1 How we handle it

Startups done in the right order

When Lehi's water comes on, we open the system slowly so a rush of water does not crack fittings. Then we run each zone, fix leaks and broken heads and set the controller for spring, not for July.

2 How we handle it

Coverage tuned for your soil

We check that heads throw head to head, swap nozzles that do not match and set cycle-and-soak on clay so water sinks in. On slopes we add pressure-regulating heads or check valves so the bottom of the hill does not flood.

3 How we handle it

Winterizing before the water quits

We schedule fall blowouts ahead of the October 15 shutoff, test each zone one last time and clear the lines with air. Backflow and valve parts get drained so the first cold snap does not crack them.

Lehi questions

Sprinkler Repair in Lehi: what people ask

When does Lehi turn secondary water on and off?
Lehi's pressurized irrigation runs from April 15 to October 15. The city suggests waiting until about May 1 to water lawns if you can. We start systems up after the water comes on and book fall blowouts before the shutoff, so you are not left with a full system and no way to test it.
Why is my Lehi water bill higher now?
Lehi meters secondary connections, so every gallon counts. Common culprits are a valve that never fully closes, a broken head flowing all night and run times set long for clay. We find the leak and reset the schedule so you water what the lawn needs and no more.
Can you add a smart controller?
Yes. A weather-based controller cuts runs on cool or rainy days and is easy to adjust from your phone. On Lehi clay it makes cycle-and-soak simple to set. We install it, program each zone and show you how it works before we leave.
