Landscape Design in Lindon

One plan for a lot of yard

A big Lindon lot is a gift and a puzzle. There is room for a patio, a lawn the kids can actually run on, a vegetable garden, maybe a court. Without a plan, though, those pieces end up scattered, with long walks between them and dead space in the middle that nobody uses. Bigger yards need more design, not less, and they punish guesswork.

We start with what the lot already has. A lot of Lindon homes sit on former orchard ground, so there may be old fruit or shade trees worth keeping, and old farm grades that need fixing. West toward the Marina, the soil is heavy clay. On the bench under Timpanogos, it slopes and the soil turns coarser. Each of those changes what goes where.

From there we draw one plan for the whole yard: grading, patios, lawn, beds, shade, lighting and sprinklers set up for Lindon's secondary water season. Our team has built more than 200 projects across Utah County, and the same crew that draws the plan builds it. Jackson stays with your project the whole way, so nothing gets lost in a hand-off.

Lindon still has that little-bit-of-country feel, which usually means bigger former-orchard lots, more yard to design and water, and old ag ground to work around.

The Lindon challenges

Why big Lindon yards need a plan

Too much lawn to water

Big lots with wall-to-wall lawn cost a lot to keep green, especially now that Lindon is metering secondary water. A good plan puts lawn where you use it and turns the rest into beds, rock or native areas that need far less water through August.

Old trees and old ground

Mature orchard-era trees are hard to replace, but some are past their prime. Old farm grades can send water the wrong way. A design has to decide what stays and what goes before anything else gets drawn around it. We make those calls with you, tree by tree.

A bench lot with rules

On the Lindon bench, slopes and the Foothills and Canyons Overlay Zone shape what you can build, and walls over 4 feet need an engineered design. Those limits belong in the plan from the first sketch, not after you fall in love with a layout.

The J&H approach

How we design yards in Lindon

1 How we handle it

We walk the whole lot

Jackson walks the full property with you, not just the patio area. We look at trees, slope, drainage, sun, views of Timpanogos and how your family will actually use each part of the yard, season by season.

2 How we handle it

Spaces for how you live

We group the yard into areas: a gathering spot near the house, play lawn, garden, maybe a court or fire pit farther out. Paths and lighting connect them so the yard feels like one place instead of a row of separate projects.

3 How we handle it

Built in phases that fit

On a big lot, few people build it all at once. We set the order so grading, drains and sprinkler mains go in first, then each phase adds on without tearing up the last one.

Lindon questions

Landscape Design in Lindon: what people ask

What plants do well in Lindon?
Lindon runs zone 7a with alkaline soil, so plants that handle high pH and dry summers do best. On Marina clay we pick plants that can take a wet spring. On the bench we lean toward deer-resistant choices. Tender plants go in after the last frost, which is usually early May.
Can you design around my old trees?
Yes. We check the health of each tree and decide with you which ones to keep. Patios and paths stay outside the main root zones, and the sprinkler plan gives trees deep water on their own lines, separate from the lawn.
Is a full design worth it on a big lot?
On a big lot it matters most. A plan keeps you from spending money on pieces that do not fit together, and it lets you build in phases without waste. It also cuts water use by putting lawn only where you want it, which adds up on a large Lindon yard.

Your dream yard. Done right. Done on time.
