Sprinkler Repair in Eagle Mountain

Every drop here goes through a meter

Eagle Mountain has no citywide secondary water system. The city's wells pull from the Cedar Valley Aquifer, and there are no rivers, streams or springs nearby to tap. In most yards that means sprinkler water runs through a city meter on tiered rates. A broken head or a stuck valve is not just a brown spot. It shows up on the bill. As the city rolls out smart meters, leaks and overwatering are getting easier to spot.

There are rules, too. City code says lawns may not be watered between 10 AM and 6 PM. A first offense gets a written warning, and a second can lead to your water service being shut off. Building permits issued on or after February 1, 2024 also require a WaterSense smart controller with rain delay. If your controller is old or set wrong, it can break the rules without you knowing.

Then there is the wind. Spray heads throwing a fine mist across an open Eagle Mountain lot lose a lot of water to the air and the street. A 2022 USU analysis found residents here putting down about twice the lawn water they needed. We fix what is broken, swap misty heads for rotary nozzles where it helps and set the schedule to the hours and the season you actually have.

Eagle Mountain is two climates in one city, the milder Ranches by the Lake Mountains and the colder City Center out toward Fairfield, with open Cedar Valley wind, metered city water and a one-year clock on new front yards.

Know your Eagle Mountain ground

Elevation
About 4,885 feet
Ground
Alkaline, well-drained native ground that builders often leave stripped and packed hard, running saltier toward City Center
Secondary irrigation
there is no citywide secondary system, so yards run on metered city water, and lawns may not be watered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Growing season
USDA zone 6a to 7a, with cold pockets that act colder, last frost around May 15 on the Ranches side and as late as June 7 near City Center
Wall permits
In Eagle Mountain a retaining wall over 4 feet tall, counting the 30-inch footing depth, needs a building permit and engineered drawings, and no wall may rise more than 6 feet above finished grade

The Eagle Mountain challenges

Common Eagle Mountain sprinkler problems

Controllers watering at noon

A controller still set from move-in day can run zones in the middle of the day, which breaks the city's 10 to 6 rule. We reset the schedule for early morning, check the clock and backup battery, and set seasonal adjust so it waters less in spring and fall.

Mist that blows off the lawn

High-pressure spray heads make a fine mist, and Cedar Valley wind carries it onto the sidewalk and the driveway next door. We add pressure-regulating heads and low-angle rotary nozzles so more water lands on the grass and less goes to waste.

Leaks you only see on the bill

A slow leak at a valve or a cracked lateral line can run for weeks in well-drained soil without ever making a puddle. We test each zone, find the leak and fix it. Once the city's planned meter portal with leak alerts is up, it will help catch them sooner.

Lines cracked by early freezes

The first fall freeze at the Fairfield station comes around September 10, early for Utah County. Water left in pipes and the backflow device cracks them. We blow out systems before the cold arrives and repair any damage when we start them back up in spring.

The J&H approach

How we fix sprinklers here

1 How we handle it

Test every zone

We run each zone, walk it and mark broken heads, tilted heads, clogged nozzles and dry spots. Then you get a written list and a price before we fix anything, so there are no surprises on the bill.

2 How we handle it

Fix it for metered water

We match nozzles in each zone so they put down water at the same rate, and we separate lawn from drip beds. If you need a smart controller, we install it and set it up for rain delay and the city's watering hours.

3 How we handle it

Set it for your season

The Ranches side warms up weeks earlier than City Center. We set your spring start-up, your schedule and your fall blowout for your side of town, not a calendar date that fits somewhere else in the valley.

Eagle Mountain questions

Sprinkler Repair in Eagle Mountain: what people ask

What are the watering hours in Eagle Mountain?
City code says lawns may not be watered from 10 AM to 6 PM. A first violation gets a written warning, and a second can mean losing water service. The city points people to the state's weekly watering guide for how often to run. We set your controller to match.
Does Eagle Mountain have secondary water?
Not citywide. The city is working toward reusing treated wastewater for irrigation and already waters Cory Wride Park that way, but no citywide secondary system is running yet. That is why sprinkler efficiency matters so much here. We confirm how your lot is set up when we visit.
Do I need a smart controller?
If your building permit was issued on or after February 1, 2024, the city requires a WaterSense smart controller with rain delay or shut-off. On an older home, it is still one of the easiest ways to cut use on metered water. Rebate programs change, so we check what is available before you buy.
When should I winterize sprinklers in Eagle Mountain?
Before the first hard freeze. The weather station at Fairfield, closest to City Center, puts the first fall freeze around September 10, while the station nearer the Ranches side runs closer to September 29. We schedule blowouts by where you live.

Your dream yard. Done right. Done on time.
