Backyard Remodel in Lehi

Past the builder-basic Lehi backyard

A lot of Lehi backyards went in fast. During the build-out, the goal was to get sod down and a small patio poured before the HOA deadline. Years later you have a lawn, a slab and a fence, and not much reason to go outside. A remodel turns that into a space you use: a real patio, a fire to sit around, shade on summer evenings and lights so the night does not end at dusk.

In Lehi, a remodel starts with what is under the old yard. On the flats, the builder may have laid sod over packed clay with little topsoil, and the slab may sit on loose backfill. On Traverse Mountain, the yard may need terraces before there is room for anything new. We find that out first, because it changes what the project costs.

We have done more than 200 projects across Utah County, and the big remodels are where planning pays off most. We set gas, power, water and drainage before the finished surfaces go in. Then we build the patio, pool area, fire feature, pergola, planting and lighting as one job, with one crew and one schedule you can hold us to.

Lehi is two towns in one: bare new-build lots on clay down by Thanksgiving Point with an HOA clock ticking, and steep gravel benches up on Traverse Mountain that need engineered walls.

The Lehi challenges

What a Lehi remodel runs into

Old shortcuts hiding under the sod

Lehi yards from the build-out often have thin topsoil over subsoil, sprinkler lines buried shallow and patios on loose backfill. You do not see it until we dig. We plan for it so it does not turn into a change order halfway through.

Tight access on newer lots

Many Lehi homes sit close to the neighbors, with a narrow side yard as the only way in. That limits the size of equipment we can bring for digging a pool or setting big stone. We plan the order of work around that gap.

Pools and slopes on the bench

A pool on a Traverse Mountain lot often sits on cut or fill, and sometimes near a wall. The ground under it has to be checked, and any wall over 4 feet needs an engineered design. That work gets planned before the pool is even drawn.

Afternoon sun with no trees

A west-facing yard in a young Lehi subdivision gets hammered from mid-afternoon on. Without shade, the new patio sits empty all of July. We plan pergolas, shade sails or new trees into the remodel from the start. Shade is often the cheapest piece that changes how much you use the yard.

The J&H approach

How we remodel Lehi backyards

1 How we handle it

Fix the ground first

We dig test spots, check drainage and look over the old sprinkler system before we design. If the base or grade is wrong, we fix it as part of the remodel instead of setting new stone on top of an old problem.

2 How we handle it

Utilities planned before stone

Gas for a fire pit, power for lights and heaters, water for a kitchen sink: all of it gets run and sleeved before patios go down. A later upgrade will not mean cutting through new pavers.

3 How we handle it

One crew, start to finish

Our team builds the hardscape, structures, planting and lighting in the right order. Jackson walks the job with you along the way, so changes get caught early and the finished yard matches the plan you signed off on.

Lehi questions

Backyard Remodel in Lehi: what people ask

How long does a full backyard remodel take in Lehi?
It depends on size and what goes in it. A patio, pergola and planting job moves faster than one with a pool or terraces on a Traverse Mountain slope. We give you a schedule with the written quote and plan sod and planting around Lehi's secondary water season.
Can you plan a pool into my Lehi backyard?
Yes. We plan the whole yard around a pool, including decking, fencing, grading and planting. On a bench lot we check the slope and any walls first. We confirm current city requirements for pools, fences and walls at your address before work starts.
Do I have to tear out my whole yard?
No. If your patio is solid and the grade drains, we keep it and build around it. If the slab is cracked or the lawn sits on hardpan, it is usually cheaper to fix it now than to build around it and fix it later. We tell you straight what is worth keeping.

Your dream yard. Done right. Done on time.
