Backyard Remodel in Saratoga Springs

Remodeling a Saratoga yard that has grown in

A lot of Saratoga Springs back yards were put in fast. The city went from about 1,000 people in 2000 to an estimated 61,000 in 2025, and many yards were built to beat a deadline more than to be lived in for twenty years. Most Jacobs Ranch homes went up between 2000 and 2009, so those yards are now well past fifteen years old. That is often when a family starts wanting much more than lawn and a small slab.

A remodel is where we get to build what you actually want. A big paver patio with a kitchen and a gas fire pit. A pergola that shades the hot afternoon side. Plantings that frame the view across Utah Lake to the mountains, instead of hiding it. On lakefront lots in Lake Mountain Estates and near the marina in Harbor Bay, the view is why you bought the house, so the design starts there.

A remodel also fixes what the first install got wrong. Grades that drain toward the house, sprinkler zones that soak the patio, a lawn too big for your water allotment. We tear out what is not working, keep what is and build the new yard on a base and a grade that hold. Jackson prices it in writing after walking the lot with you, so you see the plan and the number side by side.

Saratoga Springs went from about 1,000 people in 2000 to an estimated 61,000 in 2025, so most yards here started as bare dirt on a city deadline, watered by a metered pressurized line that charges more once you pass your lot's allotment.

The Saratoga Springs challenges

What a Saratoga Springs remodel runs into

Old grades under new work

Building a new patio on top of a bad grade just hides the problem for a year or two. The city ties most yard flooding to poor grading near homes. We check the fall away from the house before we design anything, and fix it as part of the remodel, not as an extra.

Wind on lake-facing lots

Lots that face the lake have little to stop a gust coming in across the water. Shade sails, market umbrellas and loose cushions do not last long out there. Pergolas, fire features and outdoor kitchens need to be placed with the wind in mind and anchored for it.

Access on a finished lot

A grown-in yard has fences, mature trees and a finished house in the way. Getting equipment to the back without wrecking the side yard takes planning. We map access first, protect what stays and put the fence and side yard back the way we found them.

HOA approval for big changes

Many Saratoga Springs neighborhoods have an HOA, and a remodel with a pergola, a kitchen or a new fence often needs its approval. We draw plans you can submit and wait for the yes before we start, so the project never stops halfway for a letter.

The J&H approach

How we run a backyard remodel here

1 How we handle it

Design around the view and the sun

We stand where you will sit and look out. The patio, the kitchen and the shade go where the view and the evening light are best, and plantings frame the lake or the mountains instead of blocking them. Tall shrubs go where you want privacy, not in front of the view.

2 How we handle it

Fix the bones while we are in there

With the yard open, we regrade so water runs away from the house, move sprinkler zones that soak the hardscape and size the new lawn to your water allotment. Fixing it now costs far less than fixing it after the pavers and the kitchen are in.

3 How we handle it

One crew, start to finish

Our crew handles the demo, grading, hardscape, structures, sprinklers and planting. You get one schedule and one point of contact in Jackson, with no waiting around for a separate trade to show up before the next step can start.

Saratoga Springs questions

Backyard Remodel in Saratoga Springs: what people ask

How long does a backyard remodel take in Saratoga Springs?
It depends on the size of the job, any permits and HOA approval. A patio and planting job moves faster than a full yard with a kitchen, walls and a pergola. We give you a schedule with the quote, and we time sod and plants for when the irrigation line is on.
Can you work around my existing trees?
Usually, yes. Mature trees are worth keeping in a young town like Saratoga Springs, where most neighbors are still waiting on shade. We keep heavy equipment off the root zone and shape the patio edge or grade around the trunk. If a tree is failing or blocking drainage, we will say so plainly.
Can a remodel lower my water bill?
It can. Many older Saratoga Springs yards carry more lawn than the family uses. Swapping part of it for patio, planted beds on drip or permitted turf cuts what runs through the metered line. If you want a rebate, check utahwatersavers.com and get approval before any grass is removed.
What goes into a premium backyard remodel?
Whatever your yard needs. Most include a new patio, an outdoor kitchen or fire feature, shade from a pergola, lighting, new plantings and sprinkler updates. Jackson walks the yard with you, listens to how you want to use it, then puts the plan and the price in writing.

Your dream yard. Done right. Done on time.
